I’ve started to really enjoy writing again lately. That’s why I’ve decided to enter a couple of different writing contests. One of the ones I decided to enter is a Reedsy short story contest. It’s based off of a prompt you can choose from five.
This week’s prompts were about power (outages). The prompt I chose was a person getting stuck in an elevator during a power outage. This prompt could be written in any genre, which is part of why I chose it, because we all know what my favorite genres are.
The other prompts had some open genres and some pre-picked genres as well. But because I like to leave my short story characters ambiguous (nameless), the thriller genre is perfect for my format.
More thrillers, more, more, more!
And, unsurprisingly, I had a lot of fun working on this story! I look forward to continuing these contests every week and exploring the various prompts they have available.
If you’re interested in reading it, prior to the contest being complete, it’s posted on my profile page on Reedsy, which can be accessed from the “Stories” tab at the top of my webpage. Or, you can click on the link below.
Wish me luck!
